How to choose a wrap finish for your doors and cabinets
10 October 2026 · 4 min read
Choosing the finish is the fun part, and the hardest to picture. A swatch the size of your palm has to stand in for a whole door or kitchen. A few simple rules make it easier.
The four families
Every finish on our site is an LX Hausys BENIF film, and they fall into four families:
- Woods. Walnut, oak, cherry and noce grains, from light to dark. Big Walnut WH007 and Oak WG077 are among our customers’ most-chosen finishes.
- Stone and concrete. Stucco, marble, concrete and stone looks. Stucco VS053 is the finish our customers choose most.
- Solid and embossed. Solid colours, many with a fine texture, plus textile, leather and soft-touch finishes. Emboss SG102 is in our customers’ top three.
- Metals. Metal looks such as MG007 and MH005.
Start with what stays
The finish has to live with everything you’re not changing: the floor, the walls, the worktop and the handles. Before you look at swatches, take a photo of the room as it is, and choose with it in front of you.
- Floors. A wood finish that’s close to your floor colour, but not quite, can look like a mismatch. Match it closely, or choose something clearly different.
- Handles. Warm woods sit well with brass. Cool stone and concrete looks suit black or chrome.
- Neighbouring surfaces. In a kitchen, choose a cabinet finish that works with the worktop and backsplash, or have us wrap those too.
See it in your own light
Screens change colours, and so does the light in your home. A walnut that looks rich in daylight can look much darker under warm lights at night.
That’s why we bring samples to your site visit, so you can hold them against the door or cabinet in your own light. You can also see them at our showroom at Oxley Bizhub in Ubi, by appointment.
Matching finishes around the home
- Main door and bedroom doors. A matching set looks calm and continuous. A contrasting main door makes the entrance a feature.
- Kitchen cabinets. Two finishes, such as a light wood above and a darker solid below, break up a long run of cabinets.
- Wardrobes. On a large wall of doors, a subtle texture or a fine grain stops the wall looking flat.
Finishes in the kitchen
Every finish is wipe-clean and takes splashes and normal kitchen warmth. Whichever you choose, we leave a gap beside the hob and oven, and hot pots or pans need a trivet. By the sink, wipe up water rather than leaving it to stand.
Use the code
Every finish on our site has a code, like WH007 or VS053. Send it to us on WhatsApp and we’ll know exactly which one you mean. You can try eight finishes on a main door on our finishes page, and pick your finish at the end of Get my price.
